Tuition Class Policy

Class Cancellations or Rescheduling by Student
The office must receive notification of any requested rescheduling or cancellation of classes, either by Phone/SMS/WhatsApp to +65-8876-4302, or via email at info@theorchardinstitute.com at least 24 hours prior to the start time of the affected class to prevent the forfeit of the class. Any notification outside the above stated period will result in the forfeit of your class. The Orchard Institute also has the right to forfeit the lesson if the student is not present for the lesson. Forfeited lessons will be charged in full.

Class Cancellations by The Orchard Institute
Classes cancelled by The Orchard Institute will not be charged and will be credited to the following month’s session, if applicable.

Late Arrival Policy
Student/Parent/Guardian is responsible for informing the office (use mobile number and email above) if student will be running late for a class. Tutors will be obliged to wait for a maximum of 30 minutes from the class start time. If no notification has been made by the end of the 30 minutes, the class will be treated as a late cancellation and the class will be forfeited. Classes will still finish at the scheduled time regardless of late arrivals.

Make Up Classes
Make Up Classes will only be permitted under the following circumstances: where the student has fallen sick suddenly or has an emergency situation. Note that The Orchard Institute may request to view the medical certificate. Timing of make-up classes are subject to the availability of the tutor. A make-up token will be issued for each make-up class granted if the affected class is charged. However, please note that all make-up tokens will expire 30 days after their issuance, are non-transferable and are only applicable to your child’s private tuition class.

If a change in timing of your upcoming tutoring session is required, kindly provide at least 24 hours notice. In case that this is not possible, for example due to a sudden sickness, a medical certificate may be requested from the parent. If The Orchard Institute cancels your class, you will not be charged.

Public Holidays
The Orchard Institute will be closed during all Singapore Public Holidays. Lessons that fall on a Public Holiday will be cancelled without charge. Make up classes will not be made up that fall on a public holiday, unless asked for by the client and agreed to by the Orchard Institute in advance.

Payment

A monthly invoice will be sent at the beginning of each month for the previous month’s sessions. Total invoice payment is due within 3 working days. Payment of fees must be completed prior to the commencement of classes of a new month. Payments will be accepted by Credit Card, via PayPal, Bank Transfer, or Pay Now, details for which can be found on your invoice. Prices stated are exclusive of GST. The office must be notified of any changes to Credit/Debit Card details as soon as possible to avoid delayed charges. Refunds for paid classes will not be allowed except for reasons deemed valid by The Orchard Institute.

GST if applicable will be charged at the prevailing rate under Singapore law. GST is currently at 8% effective from 1 January 2023 and will increase to 9%, effective from 1 January 2024. The GST rate is subject to change based on national regulations.

Social Media Policy

To highlight the positive, collaborative nature of our classes, we aim to publish pictures of these activities on our website and social media. We would, therefore, be grateful if you could let us know if you would like to opt out of your child’s image being shown. If the situation arises where we seek to post your child’s picture, we will be in contact with you for approval.
